Reasons for Erarta parting company with Maria Turkina

08 May 2015

Please be aware that we are officially parting company with the director of our St. Petersburg gallery, Maria (Masha) Turkina.

We have discovered that Ms. Turkina was using her official position, which gave her access to Erarta’s both client and artist contacts, in order to sell works of art directly for her own benefit, hurting Erarta as a result. The sad truth of the situation is exacerbated by the fact that all proceeds of the non-commercial Erarta project are fully reinvested and are used to support Russian contemporary art. We are further saddened because such actions undermine the work of the overall Erarta team, comprised of a huge number of dedicated and worthy individuals who put their time, money, heart and soul into the project, which brings enjoyment of Russian contemporary art to hundreds of thousands of people annually.

On behalf of Erarta we kindly ask you to refrain from participating in deals such as above because they deprive Erarta from supporting the project and thus, hurt a worthwhile project that we hope will continue to spread love of art in Russia for generations to come.

Thank you for your support,

Erarta Team
